TOCPUG: Monday October 16th Canceled! Next meeting: November 20th

Next tentative meeting: Monday, November 20th

There’s not enough in terms of presenters to warrant a
meeting for tomorrow.  Most are in ‘crunch’ time/making fall deliverables (I’m on a death schedule now!) It’s a very busy time!
 .
If you want a meeting in November, drop us a line!
 .
I originally was going to leave a bunch of technical tidbits/camera/software…but that’s not what TOCPUG is all about.
So, I’ll leave you with this:

“Our songs will all be silenced, but what of it? Go on singing.

Next meeting: Monday October 16th. Have a topic/film you’d like to present?

TOCPUG meetings are now held on MONDAYS.

We already have a bunch of topics to hit on:
– GH5 Firmware 2.0.  This is quite the update, and it pushes the GH5 into H.265 – 6K territory!

If you recently made a film/doc/etc, and would like to present an excerpt/short, let us know!

Our group of industry types are a fantastic sounding board.  TOCPUG has some of the best
Q&A ever!
Also, if there is an app/trick you’d like to present/tutorialize on, or a gadget you’d like to show/present,
let us know!
Next meeting: MONDAY October 16th – 7-9pm .
 550 St. Clair West – 2nd Floor
 Toronto.
TOCPUG is open to all/forever free.

Next meeting: September!

That’s a wrap! Another great year of TOCPUG meetings! We will start up again in September, have a productive/safe summer.

Keep an eye on this page, our facebook and twitter for updates, musings and networking.  If you’d like to present at our fall meeting, have a film you’d like to Q&A on, an app to seminar, a topic you feel important for the Toronto Creative Pro Users Group: LET US KNOW.

TOCPUG APRIL 4 GEIGER COUNTER RESULTS ~ Next Meeting May 2nd

FANTASTIC NIGHT!  Great turnout, and lots of vintage glass to scan!

Based upon this article which mentions  vintage lenses from the 1930-70s containing Thorium: https://petapixel.com/2013/05/03/deca…

TOCPUG offered free geiger counting services on the night of April 4th. Attendees who brought in their vintage glass, could see if it was radioactive.

Here are the results. Keep in mind, Thorium is an alpha decaying radiation, not great to keep near the eyes, but generally safe to use.

Lots of internet discussion over “Thorium lenses”, this summates it nicely: https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/c…

This chart also puts radiation in perspective: https://xkcd.com/radiation/

April 4th – Anamorphic Lenses & Geiger Counter Fun!

April 4th’s meeting is shaping up! (dates got moved around as a result of March break)
If you have a short film you’d like to show/present, let us know.
Along with a tutorial/seminar on Anamorphic lenses (A must for anyone serious about ‘movie magic)
I recently came across this article:
and the list of lenses possibly containing Thorium:  http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Radioactive_lenses
Seeing as many here probably are vintage lens collectors
(Can’t beat the look of imperfect glass!), bring it in!
We’ll have a Geiger Counter that night to detect
your glass for any ionizing particles.
Anyone ‘concerned’ regarding rads, this chart helps put everything into context: https://xkcd.com/radiation/
April 4th 7-9pm:
550 St. Clair West, 2nd Floor (Close to St. Clair West Subway)
Open to all/Forever Free.

Next meeting: April 4th

Hi/Bonjour fellow TOCPUG’ers.

Place was PACKED last night, incredible energy with a fantastic back/forth.

can get together monthly and discuss/present their work/new ideas.
Next meeting will be held April 4th.  We already have a few presenters lined up, but

We hold meetings on the third Tuesday of every month. 550 St. Clair West 2nd floor (Close
